`The Liberia National Red Cross Society (LNRCS) aims to provide basic preventive and curative health and other humanitarian services and facilities to vulnerable groups and depressed communities, and to strengthen its institutional capacities towards the attainment of this objective. The National Society has developing its five-year strategic development plan (2008-2012). The plan, crafted by the LNRCS and its partners in 2007, identifies its development priorities and strategic objectives in line with the Fundamental Principles, the Strategic Work Plan, ARCHI and Strategy 2010, the 5th African Conference, Ouagadougou Declaration and the Liberian government’s national development priorities. It takes into consideration six priority issues which include Volunteer Resource Management, Decentralization, Communication, Resource Mobilization, Disaster Management, and Gender Diversity. The relationship between the LNRCS and the Liberian government is cordial. In its cooperation with the government, it is providing social services to the most vulnerable, through its offices, or chapters, located in the 15 counties of Liberia. Established since 1919, the Society has maintained its autonomy.
